Tia Adeola may have made her Fashion Week debut at NYFW: The Shows 2020 this Friday (February 7), but the young designer is no stranger to the fashion industry.
Known for starting her brand on Snapchat and later dressing celebs like SZA and Kali Uchis, the 24-year-old Parsons School of Design alum used the runway to not only showcase pieces from her new Fall/Winter 2020 collection, but also to rebrand from “Slashed by Tia” to the moniker Tia Adeola.
“Slashed by Tia was a name I playfully came up with when I was in my dorm in 2016 and as I go further into my design career it’s important I stay true to myself and my roots and what better way to do that than to literally put your name on it?” Tia tells Teen Vogue.
Inspired by the Renaissance and her Nigerian roots, the collection explores untold stories of the renaissance period from the point of view of powerful women and how they projected power, protected their families, and expressed themselves.
Each piece had its one dose of sexiness. From sultry dresses to her signature organza frilled tops, guests were also treated to looks that featured feather adorned pants and jumpsuits, colorful tweed sets and silk skirts with Renaissance art.
We absolutely love what Tia is doing for young women in the fashion industry and can’t wait to see what she does next season!
