Former Vice President Joe Biden has given some real hints as who he will pick to be his running mate if he becomes the Democratic nominee, and all fingers point to the brilliant and eloquent Stacey Abrams.
In a new interview, Barack Obama’s close friend said he is hoping to have a woman of color as his running mate if he clinches the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
Biden said: “Whomever I pick, preferably it will be someone who was of color and/or a different gender, but I’m not making that commitment until I know that the person I’m dealing with I can completely and thoroughly trust as authentic and on the same page,”
The Democrat from Delaware added: “The one thing I know is the job of being president in 2020 as in 2016 and in 2008 is too big for any one person. You’ve got to have somebody you can turn to. Obama knew that he and I had the same value set and the same political disposition as what we should do, and he knew if I ever had any doubt, I would come back to him. That’s what I most want in whomever I pick. They’ve got to be simpatico with what I stand for and with what I want to get done.”
Abrams is more than opened and qualified for the job. The politician from Georgia recently denied any intentions to run for president in the upcoming 2020 election, and she is much more open to the idea of being a vice president instead, partnering with the candidate brought forward by the Democratic party.
The confirmation of her openness to the idea of running for vice president is official, but at the same time, she has added that she does not want to talk too much about the situation just yet.
She also explained that she did not have a specific partner lined up yet, and would be open to being considered by pretty much any nominee.
She told The New York Times: “I would be honored to be considered by any nominee.”
It is not clear why she is demonstrating so much enthusiasm for the idea of running as a partner to a presidential candidate.
